Odisha Cricket Association to elect new President on February 24

Bhubaneswar, Feb 13: Veteran sports promoter and industrialist Pankaj Lochan Mohanty has submitted his nomination for the position of president of the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA).

The role became vacant after former minister and BJD leader Pranab Prakash Das stepped down last year. Currently serving as OCA's vice-president, Mohanty is the only contender for the post so far, according to sources.

The OCA has scheduled the nomination scrutiny for February 14, while candidates will have the option to withdraw their nominations by February 15. The new president will be elected during the association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on February 24.

Das was elected as OCA president in 2022 but resigned in December last year. Mohanty previously held the position from 2019 to 2022.

Following Das’s resignation, there was speculation that BJP leader and former MLA Lalitendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra could be a potential candidate for the role.
