ECI announces schedule for Nuapada Assembly by-election following MLA Rajendra Dholakia’s demise

Bhubaneswar, Oct 6: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday announced the schedule for the by-election to the Nuapada Assembly Constituency in Odisha, which has been necessitated following the unfortunate demise of sitting MLA Rajendra Dholakia.

The by-election aims to fill the vacant seat and ensure continued representation for the people of Nuapada in the Odisha Legislative Assembly.

As per the notification issued by the ECI, the Gazette Notification will be released on October 13, 2025, while the last date for filing nominations has been set for October 20, 2025. The scrutiny of nominations will take place on October 22, and October 24 will be the final date for withdrawal of candidatures. Voting will be conducted on November 11, and the counting of votes will take place on November 14, 2025.

The Election Commission stated that the by-election will be held under strict adherence to its guidelines to ensure transparency, fairness, and peaceful conduct. Comprehensive security and monitoring measures will be implemented across polling stations.

The ECI has also urged all eligible voters in Nuapada to actively participate in the democratic process and cast their votes responsibly.
