Ration card & income discrepancies lead to exclusion of 1 lakh women from Subhadra Yojana

Bhubaneswar, March 19: More than one lakh women have been disqualified from receiving the second installment of the Odisha government’s Subhadra Yojana due to discrepancies between their ration card details and declared income, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida informed on Wednesday.
According to government sources, while these women received the first installment, they were later found ineligible as their income levels exceeded the scheme’s threshold. Many voluntarily returned their ration cards after their financial condition improved, while others were disqualified for purchasing vehicles or reporting higher-than-expected paddy yields at mandis.
In response, the Odisha government has announced a post-March 31 survey to reassess the eligibility of affected beneficiaries. This survey will help verify income details to ensure that only deserving women continue receiving benefits under the scheme.
Additionally, Parida assured that women wrongly excluded due to documentation errors will receive their pending second installment by Rakhi Purnima. Meanwhile, women turning 21 by March 31 will have the opportunity to apply for benefits under the scheme.
The Subhadra Yojana is a flagship initiative aimed at empowering women through financial assistance, and the government is taking proactive measures to ensure fair distribution of benefits.
