Colorful kite festival lights up Puri beach to celebrate Rath Yatra spirit

Bhubaneswar, June 30: As the grand Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath began in Puri, the sky near Light House Square turned vibrant with colors as a unique kite flying festival took place on the beach, adding a joyful dimension to the celebrations.

The event was organized by Planet Development Foundation (PDF) 2.0, an organization committed to promoting environmental and social well-being. Giant kites shaped like panthers, long centipedes, and one proudly displaying the word "Bharat" soared above the sea, drawing cheers from tourists and devotees alike. Each kite carried a symbolic message of peace, unity, and happiness, reflecting the spiritual significance of the Rath Yatra.

“We wanted to wish everyone a Happy Rath Yatra through this special event,” said Sonali Prayadarsini, a core member of PDF 2.0.

Kite flyer Jassy, a regular at such events, shared, “Flying kites with messages during Rath Yatra brings people joy. Children especially love them.”

The event was hosted by Kite Mine, with active support from Rotary, All Things Odisha, Kosher O, and other local groups.
