Vigilance traces 28 plots and assets linked to Chief Engineer

Bhubaneswar, Oct 22: In a significant move against corruption, Vigilance officials conducted simultaneous raids at ten locations linked to Kailash Chandra Sahu, Chief Engineer and Basin Manager of the Baitarani Basin in Keonjhar.

The operation is part of an investigation into allegations of disproportionate assets (DA) held by Sahu. A well-coordinated team comprising an Additional Superintendent of Police, four Deputy Superintendents of Police, seven inspectors, seven Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), and other supporting staff executed the searches, armed with warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Keonjhar.

During the raids, a range of assets associated with Sahu and his family members were uncovered, including a triple-storied residential building under construction in Jajpur, several flats in Bhubaneswar and Puri, and a shop in Vyasanagar, Jajpur. In total, the investigations revealed 28 valuable plots, including one in Cuttack and multiple others in Khordha and Jajpur.

Additionally, the Vigilance Technical Wing is currently assessing the measurement and valuation of the identified properties. Financial records show bank deposits amounting to ₹82,80,058, while further inquiries into other deposits and investments are ongoing. The raids continue as authorities seek to gather more evidence related to the case.
