Odisha Government affirms commitment to timely execution of Bhubaneswar metro project

Bhubaneswar, June 25: The Odisha government reiterated its dedication to promptly implementing the Bhubaneswar metro rail project, promising all necessary measures to adhere to the schedule.

Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra, highlighting the BJP government's role in addressing persistent traffic congestion in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, emphasized that the metro project will proceed as planned.

Minister Mohapatra assured that the state will seek support from the Union government, if required, following a review of the State Budget. He expressed confidence in the "double-engine government of BJP" to facilitate the swift progress of the metro initiative, noting upcoming discussions on commencing work during the rainy season.

Acknowledging Prime Minister Narendra Modi's keen interest in Odisha, Mohapatra stated that the Centre is committed to providing essential assistance for the smooth and timely implementation of this ambitious project. The metro project, undertaken with an investment of Rs 6,255 crore and entrusted to DMRC, aims to link Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar to Trisulia in Cuttack in its initial phase, with completion expected over the next four years.
