Con woman accused linked to ex-BJD Minister, claims Bargarh MP

Bhubaneswar, Jan 12: Bargarh MP Pradeep Purohit sparked controversy on Sunday by alleging connections between fraud accused Hansita Abhilipsa and Anil Mohanty with a former minister from the previous BJD government.

Hansita and Anil, arrested by Infocity police on December 30 last year, are accused of duping several individuals by posing as the daughter and son-in-law of P.K. Mishra, the principal secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Purohit claimed that a former industries minister from Kalahandi had granted multiple projects to the duo in violation of rules, resulting in the misappropriation of government funds worth several hundred crores. He urged the Mohan Majhi-led government to include the ex-minister and other MLAs allegedly involved in the investigation.

Hansita, a native of Kalahandi district, reportedly gained prominence in rural politics in Kandhamal in 2017 and allegedly amassed significant wealth over the past few years.

Notably, Dibya Shankar Mishra, the BJD MLA from Junagarh in Kalahandi, served as the Minister of Energy and Industries in the Naveen Patnaik government, further fueling speculation around the allegations.
