Odisha launches special bus service to Ayodhya for Maha Kumbh Mela

Bhubaneswar, Jan 12: The Odisha government on Sunday introduced a special bus service connecting four cities in the state—Puri, Sambalpur, Bhawanipatna, and Berhampur—to Ayodhya via Varanasi and Prayagraj, ahead of the Maha Kumbh Mela, which begins on Monday.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi virtually inaugurated the service from Lok Seva Bhawan, providing a convenient travel option for devotees. "Over 200 people from Odisha have already begun their journey to the Maha Kumbh Mela. Additionally, women passengers are eligible for a 50% discount on ticket fares," he announced. The buses, operated by the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC), are equipped with both sleeper and seater options, offering ample legroom and modern amenities such as mobile charging ports to ensure passenger comfort.
To assist travelers, the state government has established a dedicated 24/7 helpdesk with a toll-free number (1800-345-1122) at the OSRTC headquarters and in Ayodhya. Passengers can book tickets online through the OSRTC website (osrtc.org), the mobile app, or at the nearest ticket counter, the Chief Minister added.
The OSRTC highlighted that the buses feature advanced safety measures, including a state-of-the-art fire protection system, live vehicle tracking, emergency panic buttons, and an advanced driver assistance system. Additional amenities include onboard infotainment systems, refreshments, and a long wheelbase design to enhance passenger security and comfort.
