Fog alerts issued across Odisha as chilly weather continues to grip the state

Bhubaneswar, Jan 10: Odisha is currently experiencing a cold spell, but the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted an increase in night temperatures by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius within the next 24 hours due to a western disturbance.
The IMD has also issued warnings about dense fog conditions expected in parts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Koraput, and Sundargarh districts until the morning of January 13. In addition, shallow to moderate fog may affect areas in Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapada until January 12, with similar conditions continuing in several districts, including Jajpur, Bhadrak, and Puri, until January 13.
Over the past 24 hours, temperatures dropped to 10 degrees Celsius or lower in 13 locations across the state. G Udayagir, located in the Kandhamal region, recorded the lowest temperature at 5.4 degrees Celsius, followed by Semiliguda at 7.2 degrees Celsius and Phulbani at 7.5 degrees Celsius.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack reported temperatures of 12.8 degrees Celsius, which is 2.3 degrees below normal for this time of year. Koraput experienced very dense fog, significantly reducing visibility, while similar fog conditions were noted in Angul, Phulbani, and Dhenkanal, with shallow fog observed in Rourkela, Bhawanipatna, Sundargarh, and Bhubaneswar.
