IMD forecasts rising night temperatures followed by a fresh dip in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Jan 12: Odisha is expected to witness a rise in night temperatures by 2-4°C over the next two days, followed by a drop of 2-3°C during the subsequent three days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday.
The state has been experiencing cold weather over the past few days, with temperatures dipping below 10°C in several locations. G Udayagiri, a hill station in Kandhamal district, recorded the lowest temperature in the last 24 hours at 5.2°C. Semiliguda in Koraput was another location where temperatures fell below 10°C, while Rourkela and Angul recorded 10°C each, and Jharsuguda registered 10.2°C. In Angul, the night temperature was nearly 4°C below normal.
Bhubaneswar and Cuttack also experienced cooler-than-usual temperatures, recording 13.2°C and 12.8°C, respectively, compared to 13.6°C and 12.5°C the previous day.
The IMD has also predicted dense fog in parts of Koraput, Kandhamal, Jharsuguda, Angul, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, and Sundargarh districts until the morning of January 14. Additionally, shallow to moderate fog may occur in areas such as Puri, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Cuttack, Khurda, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Ganjam, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapada during this period.
Over the past 24 hours, dense fog was reported in Koraput, while Bhubaneswar experienced moderate fog. Shallow fog was observed in Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Rourkela, Bhawanipatna, Sambalpur, and Jharsuguda, the IMD added.
