Unauthorized residents in Utkal University quarters face eviction from tomorrow

Bhubaneswar, Sept 10: Utkal University has stepped up its crackdown on illegal encroachments by issuing strict eviction orders to unauthorized occupants living in its staff quarters. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jagneshwar Dandapat on Wednesday directed all such residents to vacate the quarters by the end of the day, warning that forcible eviction will begin from tomorrow if the orders are ignored.
The initiative is part of the university’s operation, launched to reclaim encroached properties and restore institutional assets for their rightful use. Earlier, a similar drive was carried out to free hostels from unauthorized occupants, marking the administration’s tough stance against encroachment.
To ensure the process is implemented smoothly and without resistance, the university has already sought police assistance. “Unauthorized occupants have been served notices to vacate today. Non-compliance will lead to eviction from tomorrow with the help of the police,” confirmed ACP (Zone-V) Biswaranjan Senapati.
On the issue of surrounding slum encroachments, Senapati clarified that eviction there involves additional steps. The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) must first issue notices to slum dwellers before action can be taken. While the process is time-consuming, he assured that eviction in these areas will also move forward in due course.
