Nepali student death at KIIT University: Odisha govt forms high-level probe committee

Bhubaneswar, Feb 18: The Odisha government has taken swift action following an unfortunate incident at KIIT University in which a 3rd-year BTech student from Nepal allegedly died by suicide.
The government has placed the institution under notice and assured strict legal and administrative measures based on the findings of a High-Level Fact-Finding Committee.
The committee, constituted by the government, includes the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, the Principal Secretary of the Women & Child Development Department, and the Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Higher Education Department. The investigation will examine reports of misconduct, including allegations of the use of force against students by private individuals. Officials have confirmed that those responsible will face strict legal consequences.
Emphasizing student safety, the government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the dignity and well-being of every student. The administration has assured that justice will be served swiftly and fairly.
The probe was initiated following concerns over student safety, and authorities have pledged to take all necessary measures to ensure such incidents do not recur.
