CBI raids AIIMS Bhubaneswar over alleged job scam

Bhubaneswar, Feb 19: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday carried out a raid at AIIMS Bhubaneswar in connection with an alleged recruitment scam involving fake documents.
According to sources, the CBI team, consisting of nine officials, arrived at the medical institute early in the morning. They questioned 27 individuals, including permanent employees, and scrutinized several recruitment-related documents. The probe was initiated following reports that certain individuals fraudulently secured permanent jobs at AIIMS Bhubaneswar using forged documents.
Investigations revealed that five members of a single family from Bhubaneswar were appointed as sanitary inspectors and record clerks in 2023 and 2024. They allegedly used fake residency certificates claiming they were from Ghaziabad and Gorakhpur to get recruited. These individuals had previously worked at AIIMS Bhubaneswar on a contractual basis, hired through an outsourcing agency.
The CBI has identified a key suspect from the outsourcing agency, believed to be the mastermind behind the scam. Further investigations are ongoing, and authorities may take legal action against those involved in the fraudulent appointments.
