Crime Branch intensifies probe into Naba Das murder, scrutinizes accused’s call records
Bhubaneswar, April 25: The Odisha Crime Branch has intensified its investigation into the broad daylight killing of senior BJD leader Naba Kishore Das, allegedly shot by former police officer Gopal Das. As part of the probe, officials have closely examined the old call records of the accused to trace all individuals he communicated with before the incident.
According to Additional SP of the Crime Branch, B.K. Mallick, several individuals had telephonic conversations with Gopal Das before the murder, which occurred over two years ago. These individuals are now under the scanner and are being summoned for questioning to determine their connection, if any, to the crime.
The investigating team has been stationed in Berhampur since April 23 and has already questioned Gopal’s immediate family members, including his son and brother, to gather insights into his behavior and state of mind. A cook employed at an eatery in Jharsuguda, owned by Gopal’s brother, has also been questioned for potential leads.
The probe team is currently working at Baidyanathpur Police Station and is preparing to interrogate more people, including Gopal’s nephew. Preliminary analysis reveals that Gopal had several phone calls with contacts in Berhampur and nearby areas shortly before the murder. Investigators are now trying to determine whether he acted alone or was influenced or assisted by others.
