Odisha BJP chief Manmohan Samal rules out immediate cabinet expansion, dismisses speculation

Bhubaneswar, Sept 10: Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal on Wednesday dismissed speculation about an imminent cabinet expansion or appointments to state-run boards and corporations. Returning from a brief visit to Delhi, Samal clarified that no such deliberations were held and that the party would make formal announcements whenever any decision is taken.

Speaking to reporters at Biju Patnaik International Airport, Samal said, “I held discussions with MPs and senior central leaders as part of the party’s routine process. These interactions are normal in nature. Decisions regarding cabinet expansion or appointments will be taken at an appropriate time. For now, there will be no changes, and the party will inform everyone when the time comes.”

His statement comes amid heightened speculation in Odisha’s political circles following the Delhi visits of both Samal and Chief Minister Mohan Majhi. Rumours had gained momentum about a possible reshuffle in the state cabinet and new appointments to chair key boards and corporations.

By firmly ruling out immediate changes, Samal sought to end uncertainty within party ranks, while indicating that any future decisions would be guided by organizational priorities and administrative needs.
