Minister announces survey to investigate hidden chambers in Ratna Bhandar

Bhubaneswar, Aug 26: Amid concerns about potential hidden chambers within the Ratna Bhandar of Puri Srimandir, Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan announced on Monday that a comprehensive survey will be conducted soon for clarity.

Speaking to reporters, Harichandan noted that after removing all cupboards and chests from both the inner and outer Ratna Bhandar, the next focus will be on conducting repairs following the survey.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will carry out the inspection using advanced technology and equipment to determine if there are any tunnels beneath or within the walls of the Ratna Bhandar. “The survey will provide clarity on the presence of any secret passages or hidden chambers,” Harichandan said.

He further explained that after the repairs are completed, an inventory of the valuables will be conducted. “The inventory process will follow the 1978 database to ensure consistency,” he added.
