IMD warns of heavy rainfall in Odisha starting June 26

Bhubaneswar, June 25: According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Odisha is expected to experience increased rainfall starting from June 26.
This prediction is based on the formation of a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal on that date. The IMD forecasts heavy to very heavy rainfall in several districts of the state from June 26 to June 28 due to this weather system.
The IMD's latest reports indicate that rainfall activity will continue across Odisha for the next five days. Additionally, there is a likelihood of light to moderate rain or thundershowers in some areas of the state. The IMD has also issued a warning about thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph.
In response to these forecasts, the regional weather department has issued a yellow warning for rainfall in nine districts: Khordha, Nayagarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Ganjam, Rayagada, Jharsuguda, and Sundergarh. The Odisha government has placed all district collectors on alert in anticipation of heavy rainfall starting June 26.
