Odisha braces for four days of monsoon showers
Bhubaneswar, June 24: Monsoon rains are expected to continue in Odisha for the next four days, with light to moderate showers already occurring in various regions. The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Center forecasts rain across most of the state during this period.
A yellow warning has been issued for lightning, thunder, and rain, particularly in the coastal, northern, and western parts of Odisha, within the next 24 hours. Winds may reach speeds of 30 to 40 km per hour. Rain is anticipated to persist in many areas tomorrow as well.
Starting June 26, the intensity of the rain is expected to increase. A yellow warning has been issued for heavy rainfall in seven districts: Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Kalahandi, and Koraput. Additionally, warnings have been given for heavy rain in the districts of Ganjam, Rayagada, and Koraput on June 27.
Although the monsoon has arrived on time in Odisha, the state has experienced insufficient rainfall, with recorded precipitation at 91.8 mm, which is 41 percent below the average level.
