Odisha CM orders full preparedness for monsoon flood management

Bhubaneswar, June 22: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has instructed the Water Resources Department to maintain full preparedness for managing potential flood situations during the upcoming monsoon season.
The Chief Minister conducted a review meeting with officials from the Water Resources Department.
Following the meeting, Anu Garg, Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary of the Water Resources Department, stated that the Chief Minister recommended strengthening river embankments. Previously identified weak embankments will be closely monitored, and necessary steps will be taken to repair any potholes. Collaboration between tahsildars and water resources department engineers is ongoing in this effort, she mentioned.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the need to conduct mock drills at all dams and announced that the flood control cell will now operate 24/7.
Additionally, the Chief Minister advised the officers to remain vigilant.
