Schools in Odisha closed on September 9 for Nuakhai celebration

Bhubaneswar, Sept 4: The Odisha government today announced that all schools in the state will be closed on September 9 to celebrate the agrarian festival Nuakhai. This includes government, government-aided, and private schools.
The School and Mass Education (S&ME) department issued a notification stating that since Nuakhai, a significant festival mainly celebrated in western Odisha, falls on Sunday, the schools will remain closed the following Monday to allow for extended observance.
Additionally, the government had previously declared September 9 as a holiday for its offices. This decision, communicated by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on August 29, also includes closures for all government offices, magisterial courts, and educational institutions across the state.
