Odisha Vigilance arrests Excise Superintendent Krishna Nayak, unearths disproportionate assets

Bhubaneswar, April 30: A day after intercepting Superintendent of Excise, Dhenkanal, Krishna Nayak, with unaccounted cash worth ₹3 lakh, the Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday formally arrested her for failing to justify the source of the money.
Acting on a tip-off, Nayak was intercepted on Deulasahi Road in Dhenkanal while travelling in a vehicle on Tuesday. During questioning, she was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for carrying such a large amount of cash.
Following her interception, the Vigilance team launched simultaneous raids at five locations connected to her. During the searches, the agency unearthed significant assets, including two multi-storeyed buildings in Cuttack and Puri, eight high-value plots, deposits exceeding ₹20 lakh, and two suspected benami vehicles, which are currently under verification.
Based on the preliminary findings, Nayak was placed under arrest and will be produced before the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Dhenkanal. Vigilance officials confirmed that a case has been registered, and a detailed probe is underway into her alleged possession of assets disproportionate to her known sources of income.
