Odisha CM disburses ₹1,025 crore to over 50 lakh farmers under CM-KISAN Scheme on Akshaya Tritiya

Bhubaneswar, April 30: On the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi disbursed ₹1,025 crore under the CM-KISAN scheme to benefit more than 50.16 lakh farmers across the state. The financial assistance was directly credited to the beneficiaries' bank accounts, further demonstrating the government's strong commitment to agricultural development and farmer welfare.
In a significant move, for the first time, around 25,000 urban farmers have been included under the scheme, extending the government’s support beyond rural areas and ensuring inclusive growth in the farming sector.
The CM-KISAN Yojana, launched by CM Majhi on September 8, 2024, aims to support small, marginal, and landless farmers who are not covered under the PM-KISAN Yojana. Under this scheme, eligible farmers receive ₹4,000 annually in two instalments, timed with Nuakhai and Akshaya Tritiya.
CM Majhi also participated in the traditional ‘Akhi Muthi Anukula’ ritual at the OUAT farm in Bhubaneswar, symbolizing the start of the agricultural season. Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo praised the initiative and reaffirmed the government's commitment to farmer welfare.
