Odisha Govt extends suspension of IPS officer Rajesh Pandit Rajesh for another 30 days

Bhubaneswar, April 29: The Odisha government has extended the suspension of senior IPS officer Pandit Rajesh Uttamrao for an additional 30 days, effective from April 26, 2025. This marks the fourth consecutive extension of his suspension since it was first imposed in July 2024.

The decision was based on the recommendation of a Review Committee, which convened on April 24, 2025, under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary. After examining all relevant documents and materials, the committee concluded that the suspension should be continued for another month, unless revoked earlier, according to the Home Department.

A 2007-batch IPS officer, Uttamrao was initially suspended on July 27, 2024, for allegedly misusing his official position while serving as DIG, Fire Services & Home Guards. He was accused of forcibly entering the residence of a woman inspector and misbehaving with her, prompting departmental action.

The initial 60-day suspension was extended by 120 days on September 27, 2024, followed by a 60-day extension from January 26, 2025, and another 30-day extension from March 27, 2025.

The current extension follows Sub-Rule 8 of Rule 3 of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, and reflects the ongoing nature of the investigation.
