Over 3,700 Bangladeshi infiltrators identified in Odisha, says CM in Assembly

Bhubaneswar, March 10: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the State Assembly on Monday that as many as 3,738 Bangladeshi nationals have been identified across the state, and their deportation is under consideration.
The revelation came in response to a query by BJP MLA Manas Kumar Dutta, who sought details on steps taken by the Odisha government to identify and deport illegal Bangladeshi immigrants residing in the state.
According to the Chief Minister, the highest concentrations of Bangladeshi nationals have been found in four districts of Kendrapara (1,649), Jagatsinghpur (1,112), Malkangiri (655) and Nabarangapur (106).
Additionally, Majhi revealed that over the last 10 years, 41 Bangladeshi nationals have been involved in criminal activities in Odisha.
In response, the state government has directed all district Collectors and Superintendents of Police (SPs) to identify illegal infiltrators in their respective regions and take necessary action. The issue has reignited debates on national security and border control policies in the state.
