Burglars strike Bhubaneswar home, steal gold ornaments worth Rs 30 lakh

Bhubaneswar, Dec 23: Burglars stole gold ornaments valued at approximately Rs 30 lakh from a residence in Paika Nagar, within the Nayapalli police jurisdiction in Bhubaneswar, late Sunday night.

Sources indicate that the theft occurred at the home of Nirupama Sahoo, who was on a religious pilgrimage to Shirdi when the incident took place.

“This is my sister’s house; she left for Shirdi two days ago. Her daughter-in-law, who was home alone with a baby, decided to go to her brother’s house around 11 PM because she was feeling unwell. When she returned around 5 AM, she discovered that the burglars had entered the house by breaking the terrace door and had taken the gold jewelry stored in the locker,” Nirupama’s brother explained to the media.

He added that the gold jewelry had been kept at the house due to a recent wedding in the family.

Upon receiving the report, Nayapalli police, accompanied by a forensic team, arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation.
