Odisha Education Minister unveils roadmap for school quality and recruitment

Bhubaneswar, June 26: School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond announced plans on Wednesday to recruit 15,000 teachers soon and implement measures to curb dropout rates in government schools. Emphasizing a roadmap for enhancing the quality of school education, Gond stated that all vacant teaching positions up to Class XII will be filled in the near future.
Addressing concerns about dropout rates, Gond highlighted upcoming initiatives to engage with parents actively, encouraging school attendance. He pledged improvements to infrastructure, ensuring schools have adequate toilets, classrooms, and drinking water facilities, particularly in rural areas.
Gond assured that longstanding issues in primary schools would be addressed promptly, emphasizing that teachers' focus will shift from protests to classroom teaching. He underscored plans to review and enhance facilities for SC and ST students, ensuring they receive comprehensive support.
Looking ahead, discussions on implementing the 5T programs are underway, with Gond promising stringent actions against any irregularities. He also hinted at reintroducing uniforms featuring blue pants and white shirts, signaling potential changes ahead in school attire policies.
