New flyover and ring road planned to address traffic issues in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, Dec 10: The Odisha government is set to initiate the construction of a flyover, a new ring road, and several railway overbridges (ROBs) to alleviate traffic congestion in Bhubaneswar, responding to the city’s increasing population.
During a presentation at Lok Seva Bhavan on Tuesday, the Public Works Department detailed these proposed projects to Chief Minister Mohan Majhi. Key initiatives include the development of a new road connecting Jaydev Vihar to Nandankanan, a ring road extending from Patia railway station to NH-16 along the Daya West Canal, and upgrades to the Sundarpada-Jatni road.
Additionally, plans include a new road from the Institute of Mathematics on Patapalli-Trishulia Road to Ekamra Kanan, a flyover at Kalpana Square-Museum-Ravi Talkies, and ROBs between Sishu Bhawan Chhak and Mausi Maa Chhak, along with a ring road connecting Tamando, Chandaka, Baran, Dhauli, and Tamando.
The Housing and Urban Development Department also presented details on the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Puri Economic Region and the establishment of Greater Bhubaneswar. Key officials, including Deputy Chief Ministers K.V. Singhdeo and Pravatii Parida, and other senior government representatives, attended the meeting.
