One arrested in Odisha for charging fees for free Subhadra Yojana registration

Bhubaneswar, Sept 14: An employee of a Common Service Centre (CSC) in Titilagarh, located in Odisha’s Balangir district, was arrested on Saturday for allegedly soliciting money from applicants seeking registration for the Subhadra Yojana scheme.
The arrested individual, identified as Akash Sahu from Manigaon village under Titilagarh police limits, is accused of charging between Rs 100 to Rs 130 from women applicants for registration and application forms.
The arrest followed a complaint filed after the issue was brought to the attention of the Titilagarh Block Development Officer (BDO). Upon receiving the complaint, police initiated an investigation and subsequently arrested Sahu.
According to the complaint, Sahu was demanding Rs 100 from applicants for a process that is supposed to be free of cost under the Subhadra Yojana. Authorities are continuing their investigation, with officials warning that any others involved in the fraudulent activity will also face action.
This incident follows a previous case in Bhubaneswar, where three individuals were arrested on Friday for similar offenses related to the Subhadra Yojana registration.
