Temporary darshan restrictions at Puri Jagannath Temple for Ratna Bhandar shifting

Bhubaneswar, Sept 22: Devotees visiting the Jagannath Temple in Puri will face temporary restrictions on darshan from 10 am tomorrow, as the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) prepares to transfer valuable ornaments and items back to the Ratna Bhandar. The move is aimed at ensuring the safe and secure relocation of these priceless treasures.
The Ratna Bhandar, which houses ornaments and other valuables belonging to Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra, had recently undergone necessary repair work. During the renovation, the valuables were shifted to a secure location for safekeeping. With the repairs now complete, the administration has scheduled the transfer back to the sacred chamber.
As per the SJTA’s notification, devotees will not be allowed inside the temple or the Bhog Mandap during the shifting process. However, the Mahaprasad distribution at Anand Bazar will continue without disruption, ensuring that devotees can still partake in the sacred offering.
The administration has appealed for the cooperation of devotees, stressing that the temporary inconvenience is essential to safeguard the temple’s heritage. Once the shifting is complete, restrictions will be lifted, and normal darshan will resume immediately.
