Assets worth over Rs 1 crore confiscated from retired officer in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, May 20: The Authorised Officer of the Special Court in Bhubaneswar on Monday has issued a final order for the confiscation of both immovable and movable assets valued at Rs 1.07 crore belonging to Dasarathi Tripathy, a retired Soil Conservation Officer from Malkangiri.
This action comes as a result of a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case filed against him by the Odisha Vigilance, leading to his conviction by the court.
The assets seized by the court include various immovable properties such as land plots in Batamangala, Puri, Mouza-Janla, Bhubaneswar, and Mouza-Bharatpur, Bhubaneswar, along with movable assets like bank deposits, postal deposits, and LIC deposits.
The case was investigated by G.B. Pati, a former DSP from the Vigilance Cell Division in Cuttack Division, while Manas Ranjan Mishra, serving as the Special Public Prosecutor in the Court of the Authorised Officer of the Special Court in Bhubaneswar, handled the legal proceedings on behalf of the Vigilance.
Dasarathi Tripathy was originally charged by the Odisha Vigilance under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for possession of disproportionate assets and was convicted by the Special Judge of the Special Court in Bhubaneswar on July 24, 2019.
Following his conviction, Odisha Vigilance instructed the competent authority to take appropriate action against Tripathy. Consequently, he was penalized with the permanent withholding of his full pension and gratuity by the competent authority, effective January 4, 2023, due to his possession of disproportionate assets.
