Inter college zonal women’s chess organized in Mayurbhanj

Bhubaneswar, Oct 4: An inter-college women’s chess tournament took place at Panchpir Women’s Degree College on October 1, organized under the Inter-Zone (Zone-II) chess championship of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanjdeo University (MSCBU), Baripada. The tournament saw participation from students of four prominent colleges in Mayurbhanj.
In the tournament results, students from Panchpir Women’s Degree College emerged victorious with a score of 3.5 points, securing the top position. They were followed by competitors from Karanjia Autonomous College, Karanjia, who scored 2.5 points. Both colleges have qualified for the next round, which will be held at MSCBU in Baripada in the near future. The day-long tournament was overseen by three arbiters: Siddharth Nanda from Baripada and Debasish Behera and Kabul Chandra Raul from Karanjia.
During the valedictory function, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Pranati Barik, Principal of Panchpir Women’s Degree College. Sub-Collector Premanshu Chand was the Chief Guest and presented trophies to the winning teams and participants. The event was also attended by academic and administrative staff, as well as colleagues from the participating colleges.
