SOA agricultural science students celebrate graduation day

Bhubaneswar, Sept 13: Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) on Friday urged young agricultural scientists to focus on the effects of climate change on agriculture and to seek innovative solutions to address these challenges.
Speaking at a graduation ceremony for students of the B.Sc Agriculture (Hons) and M.Sc Agriculture programs from the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAS) at SOA, Prof. Nanda emphasized the importance of addressing climate change and its impact on food security. He advised graduates to use technologies like ChatGPT as a supplementary tool rather than relying on them entirely.
Degrees were conferred upon the 2020-24 B.Sc (Agril) and 2023 M.Sc (Agril) graduates. Prof. Nanda also administered the oath to the new graduates and reminded them of their university’s achievement in securing the 14th position in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2024. He encouraged them to uphold SOA’s esteemed reputation.
The event also featured reports by Prof. Santosh Kumar Rout, Dean of IAS, and remarks by Prof. B.K. Mishra, Head of the Department of Entomology. Prof. Manjula Das, Controller of Examination, Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean (Students’ Welfare), along with other members of the Academic Council, departmental heads, and faculty members were present.
