President Droupadi Murmu embarks on five-day Odisha visit
Bhubaneswar, Dec 3: President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday evening for a five-day visit to Odisha, during which she will participate in the Navy Day celebrations in Puri on Wednesday.
Upon her arrival at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BBPIA) aboard a special Indian Air Force aircraft, she received a warm welcome from Governor Raghubar Das, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and other dignitaries.
During her visit, Murmu is expected to unveil a new statue of Pandit Raghunath Murmu and visit Adim Owar Jarpa Jaher before spending the night at Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar. On Wednesday morning, she will head to Puri for darshan of the deities at the Shree Jagannath Temple and attend the 75th anniversary celebrations of Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya.
As the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, she will take part in the Navy Day celebrations in the evening, commemorating ‘Operation Trident’ from the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The event will showcase India's naval capabilities, featuring over 15 ships and submarines, 40 aircraft, and various military demonstrations, with an expected attendance of more than 7,000 guests.
On December 5, Murmu will attend the 40th convocation of the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology in Bhubaneswar and inaugurate the new Judicial Court Complex. On December 6, she will pay tribute to B.R. Ambedkar at AG Chhak in Bhubaneswar on his death anniversary before traveling to Mayurbhanj, where she will interact with local students and villagers.
Finally, on December 7, the President will lay the foundation stones or inaugurate several projects, including a Tribal Research and Development Centre, Dandbose Airport, and a Sub-Divisional Hospital in Rairangpur. She will also initiate three major railway projects: Bangiriposi-Gorumahisani, Buramara-Chakulia, and Badampahar-Kendujhargarh Rail Lines.
