Odisha govt extends suspension of IPS officer Rajesh Pandit

Bhubaneswar, Jan 25: The Odisha government has extended the suspension of IPS officer Pandit Rajesh Uttamrao for an additional 60 days, starting January 26, 2025.
The decision was made during a review meeting held on January 22, chaired by the Chief Secretary. According to a notification issued by the Home Department, the Review Committee examined all relevant documents and materials before recommending the continuation of the officer's suspension for another 60 days, or until further notice.
Rajesh Uttamrao, a 2007-batch IPS officer, was initially suspended on July 27, 2024, for allegedly misusing his authority during his tenure as DIG, Fire Services & Home Guards. The suspension followed allegations that he forcibly entered the home of a woman inspector and misbehaved with her.
The officer's suspension was first extended by 120 days on September 27, 2024, which was set to conclude on January 25, 2025. The latest extension underscores the seriousness of the allegations and the ongoing nature of the inquiry.
