Cleaning efforts for Meghanada Pacheri begin amid safety concerns

Bhubaneswar, Nov 4: In response to growing concerns over the condition of Meghanada Pacheri, the massive boundary wall surrounding Puri Srimandir, the temple administration began cleaning efforts on Monday.

However, the cleaning process has inadvertently exacerbated the issue, leading to increased water leakage from the wall that protects the temple. Compounding the problem, wastewater from Ananda Bazaar is seeping through existing cracks, further weakening the structure.

Just a day prior, Arabinda Padhee, the chief administrator of the Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration (SJTA), expressed his concerns about Meghanada Pacheri's condition, promising that necessary repair and restoration work would commence soon.

Since 2021, the temple administration has struggled to address the ongoing water leakage issues, despite numerous calls for immediate action. Experts believe that the cracks and water damage may be linked to the use of vibrators during the construction of the Parikrama Project, with similar damage also reported at Uttara Dwara and Nata Mandap.
