Odisha Police detain 13 after five members of nomadic family killed in Sundargarh

Bhubaneswar, Oct 31: Thirteen individuals were detained by Sundargarh police on Thursday in connection with the recent murder of five members of a nomadic family from Maharashtra’s Wardha district.
The brutal attack occurred on Tuesday night near Karamdihi village in the Sundargarh district. The suspects, including seven men and six women, were reportedly caught attempting to escape through Angul Banarpa.
The attack, allegedly linked to an illicit relationship, resulted in the deaths of three women. Four children and a woman were also reportedly abducted, while four additional children and a male member of the group sustained injuries.
Avinash Pawar, one of the injured, informed police that his relationship with his wife’s sister might have sparked the violence. He suspects his brother-in-law’s involvement. Pawar also reported that his second wife, his two children, and two other young relatives were taken by force. The family, living in temporary tents, sold goods locally for income.
