Police SI caught taking bribe in Nayagarh

Bhubaneswar, Oct 21: Odisha Vigilance has apprehended Sheikh Habibul Rehman, a Sub-Inspector (SI) of Khandapada Police Station in Nayagarh district, for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹3,000 from a complainant. The bribe was part of a monthly installment to permit the complainant to continue his business.

Vigilance officials recovered the entire bribe amount from SI Rehman, and the money has been seized. According to sources, Rehman had previously taken ₹15,000 from the complainant but continued harassing him for more payments.

A case has been registered against the accused under Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No. 21/2024 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
