Night temperatures in Odisha to rise gradually, dense fog to persist

Bhubaneswar, Jan 6: Odisha has been grappling with severe cold for the past five days, but a gradual increase in night temperatures is expected in the coming days. The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar reported that while temperatures are beginning to rise, no significant changes in minimum temperatures are anticipated over the next four days. However, a rise of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius in night temperatures is expected thereafter.
The weather agency also forecasted that dense to very dense fog may affect several regions, including Sundargarh, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Koraput, over the next 24 hours, prompting a yellow warning for these areas. Additionally, shallow to moderate fog is anticipated in parts of Khurda, Angul, Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Keonjhar, and Malkangiri.
The forecast indicates that dry weather will prevail in Odisha over the next few days, although dense fog blanketed many regions on Monday morning, with temperatures remaining low. Visibility in major areas, including Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, dropped to around 50 meters, severely affecting traffic on highways.
