Odisha Govt signs MoU with NSE to promote financial literacy among students

Bhubaneswar, May 15: The Odisha government on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Stock Exchange (NSE) of India to promote financial literacy and investor awareness among students across the state.

“This MoU is not just about spreading financial knowledge; it’s about equipping our students with essential skills to succeed in the financial sector,” said Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj. He added that the initiative will help build a strong financial ecosystem in Odisha, contributing to the state's long-term growth.

The programme, to be implemented under NSE’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, will not involve any financial burden on the state government. As per the Minister, the training will be delivered in two levels: Level 1 will comprise 20 hours of instruction, and Level 2 will offer 30 hours.

The initiative is expected to enhance employability and improve the gross enrolment ratio in higher education. Designed to prepare students for careers in the securities market, banking, financial services, and insurance sectors, the course will also help them become mutual fund advisors, stock brokers, and policy advisors.

“This partnership will also bridge the gap between academia and industry by providing students with job-relevant training and practical knowledge,” the Minister stated.
