Odisha Vigilance unearths massive disproportionate assets from Jajpur ABDO
Bhubaneswar, May 15: In a major crackdown, Odisha Vigilance officials on Thursday conducted simultaneous raids on Asit Kumar Patra, the Additional Block Development Officer (ABDO) of Dharmasala block in Jajpur district, uncovering assets massively disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The raids, carried out across multiple locations in Jajpur, Cuttack, Bhadrak, and Khurda (Bhubaneswar), revealed a staggering list of high-value properties and assets allegedly acquired illegally by the officer.
Among the properties unearthed are three multi-storey buildings, a 2-BHK flat in Cuttack, a shopping complex, and five high-value plots—four in prime areas of Jajpur Road and one in Danagadi town. The buildings include a four-storey structure spread over 6,000 sq ft at Chorda near Kanheipur, a newly constructed double-storey building of 4,000 sq ft at Jajpur Road, and a triple-storey house at his native village Garadeswar near Sundarimuhan in Jajpur.
The flat, located on the fourth floor of Metro Avenue Apartment in Chauliaganj, Cuttack, covers 1,000 sq ft. Additionally, a shopping complex consisting of two rooms over 300 sq ft at Jajpur Road was also found.
Apart from real estate, officials seized around 200 grams of gold ornaments, ₹1.85 lakh in cash, bank deposits exceeding ₹65 lakh, and two two-wheelers. Valuation and verification of the properties and financial assets are being undertaken by the Vigilance Technical Wing. Other deposits and documents are also under scrutiny.
The massive operation involved eight Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), nine inspectors, and several support staff, all acting on search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack. Raids were conducted at seven locations including Patra’s government quarter, his office room, his native village residence, a relative’s house in Bhadrak, and a homestead plot at Chandrasekharpur in Bhubaneswar. The searches are currently ongoing as part of the investigation.
