Odisha Government to release second instalment of Subhadra Yojana on March 8

Bhubaneswar, Feb 28: The Odisha government will distribute the second instalment of Subhadra Yojana at a special event in Berhampur on March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced the initiative on Friday, stating that financial assistance under the scheme would be provided to approximately one crore women beneficiaries. “Subhadra Yojana will reach the milestone of benefiting one crore women. The funds will be distributed during a dedicated programme in Berhampur,” she said.

So far, over 98 lakh women have received benefits through the first instalment of the scheme, which was implemented in four phases. Officials involved in the planning process emphasized that the event aims to ensure a smooth and transparent distribution process. The initiative is designed to provide direct financial support, promoting economic stability and social welfare.

Launched on September 17, 2024, after the BJP government came to power in Odisha, the scheme initially credited ₹5,000 to 25 women beneficiaries. Subsequent phases extended benefits to 39 lakh women on October 9, 20 lakh on November 24, and 18 lakh on February 8, 2025.

The programme is set to continue until the 2028-29 financial year, with a budget allocation of ₹55,825 crore.
