Odisha BJP to elect new president in January 2025
Bhubaneswar, Dec 12: The Odisha BJP is set to elect a new president in January 2025, as announced by state in-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar on Thursday. He explained to reporters that the election for the party chief will occur after district-level polls.
Tomar noted that organizational elections have commenced, with booth committees already established. Currently, the Mandal elections are taking place, and these will be followed by district-level elections. He confirmed that the election for the party president is scheduled for the first week of January.
Emphasizing the democratic nature of the BJP, Tomar stated, “The president will be chosen through democratic processes, allowing even a regular party worker the opportunity to become president.”
Manmohan Samal currently holds the position of BJP president in Odisha and has been recognized for his role in the party's significant success in recent elections. Under his leadership, the BJP achieved a remarkable victory, winning 78 out of 147 assembly seats and marking the end of Naveen Patnaik’s 24-year tenure as Chief Minister. The party also captured 20 out of 21 Lok Sabha seats, showcasing its growing influence in the state.
