IMD forecasts increased night temperatures across Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Jan 22: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Wednesday that the night temperatures in Odisha are expected to increase by 2-4 degrees Celsius over the next three days, with little change anticipated in the following two days.

In the past 24 hours, the state experienced a slight rise in temperatures, with G Udayagiri recorded as the coldest at 5.4 degrees Celsius, up from 4.2 degrees the previous day. Semiliguda followed closely at 6.6 degrees Celsius, while Phulbani reported 9 degrees. Rourkela and Jharuguda had temperatures of 10.2 degrees, and Daringbadi recorded 11 degrees.

The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded night temperatures of 14.4 and 14.8 degrees Celsius, respectively, an increase from 13.2 degrees each on Tuesday. These cities are expected to see temperatures around 14-15 degrees Celsius for the next seven days.

The IMD also forecasted dense to very dense fog in isolated areas of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, and Bhadrak districts until the morning of January 24. Additionally, shallow to moderate fog is likely to occur during early morning hours in parts of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, and Bhadrak, as well as in a few locations in Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh during this period. Shallow to moderate fog may continue in Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, and Bhadrak for the next 24 hours.
