Odisha to launch comprehensive housing survey for PMAY on January 24

Bhubaneswar, Jan 20: The Odisha government is preparing to launch a comprehensive housing survey for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) across the state, set to begin on January 24.
This announcement was made by Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik on Monday. He indicated that the survey will include individuals who have separated from their families, such as those living apart from their parents or spouses.
Additionally, individuals who previously applied for housing but are still awaiting allocation will have the opportunity to reapply. The Minister emphasized that the application process has been streamlined, allowing eligible beneficiaries to access PMAY benefits through both offline and online methods. The online portal will go live on the survey's first day.
Naik also noted that people can apply directly through their Panchayat or via a mobile application. The government has revised the eligibility criteria and eliminated application fees to encourage maximum participation among potential beneficiaries.
The survey, which will take place over a six to eight-week period, aims to increase the number of housing units from two crore to three crore, ensuring that all eligible residents are accounted for and can receive housing support. Previously, Naik mentioned that more than 50,963 pending applications will be included in the new survey, with 28.25 lakh households already approved under the scheme, and around 23 lakh homes constructed to date.
