New Passenger Halt at Sanapadar inaugurated to enhance rail connectivity in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, Jan 20: In a significant step towards enhancing regional connectivity, the Indian Railways has inaugurated a new Passenger Halt at Sanapadar on the Khurda Road-Balangir Rail Line. This development aims to cater to the increasing transportation demands of the local community and improve accessibility for commuters in the area.
The decision to establish the Sanapadar Passenger Halt followed public requests during the visit of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to Daspalla last year. Responding to the local populace's needs, the Minister promised better rail access, culminating in the inauguration of this new facility.
The Sanapadar Passenger Halt has been constructed at a cost of ₹55 lakh, featuring a platform spanning 450 meters equipped with modern amenities. Facilities include six small passenger shelters, seating for 30 passengers on the platform and 13 in the waiting room, 22 light posts for nighttime visibility, a hand tube well for water supply, a booking counter, and separate toilets for men and women.
Beginning January 20, 2025, four pairs of trains will stop at Sanapadar, including the Bhubaneswar-Daspalla-Bhubaneswar Express, enhancing local train connectivity. The introduction of three local MEMU (Mainline Electrical Multiple Unit) trains will further facilitate travel.
Additionally, the Bhubaneswar-Daspalla-Bhubaneswar Express will also begin stopping at Bolagarh Town on the same date, providing greater convenience for commuters.
The inauguration of the Sanapadar Passenger Halt represents a milestone in local rail development, fulfilling the transportation needs of the community. With local public representatives and railway authorities collaborating on this long-awaited initiative, the Railways reaffirms its commitment to enhancing passenger convenience and fostering economic growth through improved transportation facilities.
