Chilly conditions to persist in Odisha for two more days, says IMD

Bhubaneswar, Jan 20: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Monday that Odisha will continue to experience cold weather conditions for the next two days.

In the past 24 hours, G Udayagiri recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 4°C, followed closely by Semiliguda in Koraput at 4.9°C. Other notable temperatures included Phulbani at 7°C, Rourkela at 7.2°C, and Jharsuguda at 7.7°C. Daringbadi recorded 9°C, while Kirei in Sundargarh and Chiplima in Sambalpur noted temperatures of 9.3°C and 9.8°C, respectively.

Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi reported a temperature of 9.9°C. The capital city of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded temperatures of 13.2°C and 13.5°C, respectively, which were slightly lower than the previous night's readings of 13.8°C and 14°C.

The IMD indicated that the night temperatures are expected to remain stable over the next two days, with a potential rise of 2-4°C in the following three days. Additionally, the department has issued a dense fog alert for the next three days, warning of thick fog in areas including Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapada, and Kandhamal until January 22. A further fog warning applies to Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and several other districts over the next 24 hours. Shallow to moderate fog is also anticipated in various regions on January 21, 22, and 23.
