Odisha Govt to crack down on inefficient employees, compulsory retirement for underperformers
Bhubaneswar, Aug 5: In a strong move aimed at improving administrative efficiency, the Odisha government has decided to take strict disciplinary action against officials and employees who are found to be inefficient or negligent in their duties. The decision was taken during a recent high-level meeting at the state secretariat, where it was resolved that a thorough performance review of all government staff would be conducted.
As part of this initiative, the Chief Secretary’s office has directed all departments to identify underperforming staff and submit detailed reports by August 7. The data must include names and records of officials and employees who consistently fail to meet their responsibilities or show incompetence in service delivery.
This action is in accordance with the General Administration Department’s circular dated September 24, 2019, which empowers the government to enforce compulsory retirement for non-performing staff.
The Chief Secretary’s office will closely monitor the implementation of this directive and ensure that necessary steps are taken promptly. The move is expected to bring about a culture of accountability and professionalism within the state bureaucracy, retaining only those who are efficient, disciplined, and committed to public service.
