Odisha gold prices break records; 24-carat rates near ₹1 lakh milestone

Bhubaneswar, April 16: Gold prices in Odisha have skyrocketed to record-breaking levels, creating a buzz in the bullion and jewellery markets. On Wednesday, the price of 24-carat gold in the capital city, Bhubaneswar, surged by ₹990, reaching an all-time high of ₹96,170 per 10 grams. Simultaneously, the price of 22-carat gold, which is widely used for jewellery, increased by ₹950 and now stands at ₹88,150 per 10 grams.

This dramatic rise comes just days after a slight dip of ₹500 per 10 grams in the gold market. Despite that temporary drop, analysts believe the current upward trend could push prices past the ₹1 lakh mark in the near future.

Industry experts attribute the sharp rise to global factors such as fluctuating currency exchange rates and strengthening gold demand in international markets. The weakening of the Indian rupee against the US dollar has further impacted import costs, pushing prices higher.

With gold being a trusted form of investment and a key part of Indian traditions, the soaring prices are expected to affect wedding season purchases and general consumer demand across Odisha.
