Odisha power tariff unchanged for fourth consecutive year, OERC announces new rebates

Bhubaneswar, March 24: Consumers in Odisha have reason to rejoice as the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) on Monday announced no change in power tariffs for the fourth consecutive year. The retail supply tariff for FY 2025-26 will remain the same as that of FY 2024-25, ensuring stability in electricity costs for households and businesses.

In a major relief for consumers, the commission waived the ₹60 monthly meter rent for those using smart meters with a connected load of up to 2 kilowatts, benefiting nearly 80 lakh consumers. Additionally, consumers with pre-paid meters and those making digital payments will continue to receive a 4% rebate on their electricity bills.

Furthermore, those opting to receive bills via SMS, email, or other digital formats will get a ₹10 rebate per bill.

Current domestic power tariffs remain at ₹3 per unit for the first 50 units, ₹4.80 per unit up to 200 units, ₹5.80 per unit for 200-400 units, and ₹6.20 per unit beyond 400 units. The OERC has also announced special rebates for consumers using over 10KW electricity during solar hours (8 AM - 4 PM) to promote solar energy utilization.
