Heritage Walk celebrates Mayurbhanj's historical sites and cultural legacy

Bhubaneswar, Dec 23: Members of Mayurbhanj Lovers and Mayurbhanj Mirror, along with heritage enthusiasts from the erstwhile princely state, organized the 15th edition of the Mayurbhanj Heritage Walks (MHW) on Sunday, attracting over 60 participants.
The group, consisting of graduates, postgraduates, and Ph.D. scholars from the district headquarters town, visited the historic Baba Budha Raula Temple and Monastery, located on the outskirts of the city along the banks of the Budhabalanga River. Notably, the temple and monastery are situated at the confluence of three rivers: Budhabalanga, Chippata, and Sukhajodi.
The heritage walk commenced from a prominent location in Baripada, near the Mayurbhanj Palace (the old building of MPC College), and concluded at the Baba Budha Raula Temple and monastery. Kumaresh Nayak from Mayurbhanj Mirror shared fascinating historical tales about the temple, its Shiv Lingam, the story of Arakhpal Mouza, and the sacred fire that has burned there for centuries, captivating the participants with his narrative.
Arlin Ankita Parida, an actress and postgraduate student in Political Science, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “Connecting the missing dots of our heritage, tradition, and culture during a heritage walk is a wonderful experience.”
Both Mayurbhanj Lovers and Mayurbhanj Mirror have been dedicated to promoting and documenting the heritage, tourism, culture, nature, wildlife, and rural life of the district for over seven years. Among those present were Sushree Nayak, Akash Mohanty, Krishna Chandra Mukhi, Jeet Patnaik, Abhas Dey, and Chinmay Das.
